Let's regreen together
Our planet is warming up fast. In order to cool it down again DHL has partnered up with Justdiggit to restore degraded land in Africa.
By working together, DHL and Justdiggit will make a positive impact on climate, nature and people.
By digging bunds, an area of 1,500,000 sq.m in Ilchalai, in The Kuku Group Ranch in Kenya will be restored. On this page, you’ll learn all about what bunds are and what they do, the partnership and how you can claim your gifted “Earth Smiles” yourself.
A bund is a half moon-shaped pit that collects rainwater. Bunds are dug in project areas in Kenya to capture rainwater that would otherwise wash away over the dry, barren ground, causing erosion and floods elsewhere. Large areas can be greened quickly by digging bunds, which significantly impacts biodiversity, nature, people, and the climate.
The 12,000+ bunds that DHL will dig with Justdiggit will capture 109 million gallons of water and save as much as 14,300 tons of CO2 in 20 years’ time.
Besides the project area in Ilchalai, DHL Supply Chain is also supporting another bunds area in Kenya. They would also like to offer you a chance to participate and contribute to this great initiative.
Once you have registered and claimed your voucher, you can keep track of the impact of your bund.
