How you can help us regreen 1,240,000 m² in Langata, Kenya
We are thrilled to announce the launch of an awesome new initiative: a first-of-its-kind community bundraiser aimed at transforming the dry and degraded ecosystems of Langata, Kenya into lush, thriving landscapes for both nature and people. We aim to dig 10,000 bunds with the collective effort of the regreening community – and we need your support to get started! Here’s how you can help.
Over a million square meters of land recovery
We need your help to start a new project in Langata, Kenya. The area desperately needs to be regreened, and by digging 10,000 bunds, we can make it happen. You can join this regreening movement by buying bunds via our Langata bundraiser.
For every bund you buy, you will regreen about 124 m2 of land in Langata. This means that with our goal of 10,000 bunds, we will regreen 1,240,000 m² of land!
Wildlife returns
Humans aren’t the only ones benefiting from these recovering ecosystems – animals thrive in healthier soils and greener surroundings too! One incredible outcome of our regreening efforts in Langata is the noticeable increase in wildlife sightings. Grazing animals have returned to the area, attracted by the abundant vegetation around the bunds. As a result, social animals like giraffes and zebras are frequently spotted, adding to the vibrancy of the restored landscape.
Since the young vegetation within the bunds is still vulnerable at this stage, we cover the bunds with twigs to prevent grazing by the wildlife on the sprouting grasses inside the bunds. This allows more growth and seeds to be dispersed (also) outside the bunds, allowing the area to recover to its former glory.
