Langata Extension – Bunds Update – August 2026

At the Langata Extension site, the benefits of the bunds are evident after 2 years. Apart from restoring the degraded land, community members have reported that bunds have helped control flooding in the village. Before the project, the area experienced floods almost every rainy season, but this has reduced significantly since the bunds were constructed.

Moreover, rangers have reported that wildlife sightings have increased across most of the restoration sites. As vegetation continues to recover, the sites are providing better grazing and habitat for wildlife. In the long term, this is expected to strengthen the area’s tourism potential while supporting conservation efforts.

Justdiggit together with our partner, held a movie road show in Langata zone to raise more awareness and sensitization to the community on restoration and grazing management, held in March 2026.
