Regreening Longido (CMA CGM) – Q1 2026 News Update
Feb 2026- April 2026 program progress
Between February 2026 and April 2026, several key activities were carried out in advancing Pastoral-managed natural regeneration (PMNR) and pasture regeneration on GSBs as follows;
- Coaching and mentoring Champion farmers: The program district coordinator has continued to provide the necessary skills and knowledge to the 6 regreening Champion farmers through his quarterly visits to build their capacity on PMNR techniques, as well as their ability to record and report data. Cumulatively, this has resulted in the training of 303 households, among which 174 are actively practicing PMNR. Together, they have restored 4,869 trees!
- Grass Seed banks (GSB): During this reporting period, substantial progress was made in the development across the 2 grass seed banks (GSBs) in Leremeta and Endonyoemali villages. Favorable rainfall supported strong growth of established Rhodes grass and germination of newly planted Maasai love grass seeds in the expanded area in Leremeta GSB. The Leremeta GSB was expanded by 9.4 acres, enabling the project to achieve its planned GSB size target of 20 acres. At Leremeta, a total of 26 women group members and 14 community members participated in reseeding the added 9.4 acres, as well as the previous site. This intervention is expected to increase the availability of forage, support future restoration efforts, and generate income through grass seed and hay sales, thereby improving women and community livelihoods.
