Singida Cluster B Update – April 2025
General Overview
Cluster B comprises 74 villages across Singida District Council (DC) and Ikungi District. As of February 2025, the cluster has made steady progress, with 4,572,700 Kisiki Hai (FMNR) trees regenerated. Community participation in rainwater harvesting techniques has also improved, particularly in the use of fanya juu/fanya chini trenches.

These advancements reflect the dedicated efforts of the Regreening Singida Program (RSP) Champions and Coordinators in promoting tree restoration and sustainable agricultural practices.
Across this cluster, progress remains strong. As of March 2025, a total of 25,590 households are actively restoring FMNR trees, 442 practicing institutions, and 100 village forest reserves participating, highlighting the program’s large-scale impact on reforestation and ecosystem regeneration. Overall, we have now trained 33,240 households on restoration methods.
Capacity Building and Community Engagement
Champion Farmers continued to receive coaching and training, supported by follow-up visits to villages and individual farms. These visits ensured continuous learning, accountability, and skill enhancement.
Community outreach activities included:
- Advocacy event at Ifombou village ensuring ongoing support and skill development and awarding ceremonies for best-performing villages, recognizing and encouraging community participation.
- A football league match held in Msisi Ward aimed at raising awareness about Kisiki Hai among youth and broader community members.
These engagements have significantly boosted community awareness and participation in regreening activities.
296 Bicycles Distribution of bicycles to Champion farmers
In recognition of their efforts and to support the upcoming sustainability phase, 296 bicycles were distributed to all Champion Farmers in Cluster B. This gesture was well received and served as a motivational boost to maintain momentum in restoration activities.

Visual Production and Documentation
In January 2025, LEAD Foundation and JDI team began working on a new documentary—the third in the Regeening Singida Program series. The production has gone smoothly and is currently in its final editing stages. Plans are underway to begin community screenings in Cluster B villages.
A notable shift this quarter was the internalisation of visual content production, a task previously managed externally by a consultant, Ngoteya. Currently, the production is done internally using LEAD Foundation team which conducted its first internal filming trip in February, visiting eight villages across Singida and Dodoma. The resulting footage captured inspiring stories and has been shared with Justdiggit for further use.
Overall, the combined efforts of the Regreening Singida Program’s Champions and coordinators are driving substantial progress in tree restoration and sustainable agricultural practices across the region.
