We are taking over New York on September 26th together with 24thePlanet!

A new 24 The Planet event is coming back to New York City on Saturday, 26 September 2026! For one day, people will walk approximately 24 miles around Manhattan, from Battery Park back to Battery Park, to raise funds and awareness for our mission to regreen dry and degraded land in sub‑Saharan Africa. This work is cooling down the planet, empowering communities and enhancing biodiversity.

Not in New York? You can still be part of the movement!

Climate action knows no borders, and you don’t need to be pounding the pavement in Manhattan to make a huge impact on the ground in sub-Saharan Africa. Whether you’re sponsoring a walker, rallying your local community from afar, or making a direct donation, your support fuels every step taken on event day.

This follows successful editions in various cities since 2022, where participants and their global supporters raised significant funds for Justdiggit, helping regreen land across Kenya and Tanzania.

What is 24 The Planet?

24 The Planet is a global walking challenge that turns climate action into a shared, physical experience. Participants take on a demanding distance, backed by friends, family, and colleagues from all over the world who sponsor their steps. It’s not a race: walkers set their own pace, take short breaks, and enjoy a programme of music, food, breathwork and community moments along the way. Supporters can globally cheer them on and track their progress live.

Since 2021, the movement has grown from a small initiative among four friends into an international event visiting multiple cities each year, including Amsterdam, Budapest, London, Prague, Munich, and New York. All proceeds go directly to Justdiggit, funding nature-based solutions that restore degraded land, create local jobs, and help cool the climate.

Why this matters for Justdiggit

Every single step on the 24mile route—and every donation backed by global supporters—translates into real impact on the ground in Kenya, Tanzania and Senegal. With the funds raised through 24 The Planet, Justdiggit has already regreened the equivalent of hundreds of football fields.

Nature-based solutions, such as bunds and water-spreading structures, can significantly reduce global warming while delivering co-benefits for biodiversity and livelihoods. Events like 24 The Planet make that impact tangible: they turn abstract climate goals into a concrete, collective action that people can feel, share, and celebrate, no matter where they are tuning in from.

Who can participate?

Everyone is welcome: seasoned walkers, first-timers, remote cheerleaders, friends, families, and corporate teams looking for a meaningful challenge. Past participants and donors describe 24 The Planet as one of the most rewarding experiences, filled with laughter, new connections, and a strong sense of purpose. The key is to be part of a collective effort for the climate.

Wherever you are, you can still support!

Not in New York or not able to walk the full 24 miles? You can still help cool down the planet from anywhere on Earth:

  • Sponsor a walker: Search for a friend or team participating and back their 24-mile journey.
  • Donate directly: Contribute straight to the 24 The Planet Crew Donation Page to fund regreening projects immediately.
  • Join virtually as a global supporter: Spread the word on social media, tag 24 The Planet and Justdiggit, and encourage your followers to donate.
  • Walk locally: Do your own 24-mile or 24-minute walk in your home city on September 26th and dedicate your fundraising to the mission!
  • Get your company involved: Match employee donations or enter a global workplace team—either walking together in NYC or rallying remote employees across offices worldwide to build an international fundraising group.

Every dollar and euro helps Justdiggit regreen more hectares, restore ecosystems, and bring nature back to degraded landscapes.
