View our bunds from space!
Reaching for
the stars
With our mission to inspire millions to take action to regreen degraded landscapes in Africa, we need to provide scientific credibility to our nature-based solutions. With the help of satellite data, we get this done.
With the support from the European Space Agency (ESA) and Planet Labs PBC, we are provided with some helpful imagery from space. Looking from space, it’s finally possible to see the huge scale of our projects. It just keeps going and going!

Translating our impact
When you walk through tall grasses in an area which was barren before, the impact of our regreening projects is obvious.
But it’s hard to capture that impact in quantifiable metrics that people can relate to, like ‘liters of water retained’, ‘degrees celcius of cooling down’ and ‘changes in biomass’. With high-resolution satellite tasking capabilities and planetary variables data we can quantify, evaluate, and scale Justdiggit’s regreening projects. This cutting-edge technology provides scientific credibility and concrete metrics for nature-based solutions.

A field full of
Earth Smiles!
The image below shows how we mapped the full area where bunds have been dug in our water bund site site in Ilchakita, Kenya. 'Walk' around this project to see the scale of our projects by zooming in.
Even more bunds in Kuku, Kenya
These Earth Smiles were dug in Rombo in 2023. The site is currently under regreening!
Spot the difference
In October and November 2018 the community of Pembamoto, Tanzania dug over 5.000 bunds to capture rainwater and regreen this degraded area.
Using the slider below, you can see the impact this made on the vegetation in the area. The image on the left is from May 2018, the one on the right from May 2022.
Support our projects
With your continued support, we can keep on digging bunds: which means more regreening and more visible impact from space.
Let’s show the whole world what we are doing here. Join us in this journey of regreening and dig with us by donating bunds.
