Update on our COVID-19 guidelines

Update on our COVID-19 guidelines

As the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds, we are responding in several ways. Here’s a short update on our current guidelines in regards to the virus & our projects:

First and foremost, we prioritize the health of our staff, local partners and the communities we serve. In the African countries in which we implement our re-greening programs, all involved staff are working from home; any gatherings have been restricted and travel is limited in accordance with WHO, national and local guidelines.

We continue to work closely with our local partners and donors to manage and mitigate the effects of COVID-19 on our programs as best we can. This might mean that in the short run we place more emphasis on activities that require no physical contact: Local radio-shows on re-greening, SMS services and social media are great examples of this.

The long-term end goal of these activities remains the same as our usual regreening activities: they contribute to the regreening of landscapes on a large scale, hereby positively impacting the livelihoods of people and their resilience to climate change. This way we keep on cooling down the planet and increasing carbon sequestration in a safe way, as taking care of the planet also means taking care of each other!
